Graduation for 2019-20
Graduation auditions will be done via video this year.  The vids need to be submitted to Ms. Shelley at beardshelley@aol.com, Ms. Julie at  seoulmusic2@hotmail.com; and your private teacher.  Ms. Julie will forward to other teachers for viewing. The deadline is Monday, May 4 at 9am – NO EXCEPTIONS.  They will need to be youtube links (direct downloads or submissions via Dropbox, etc will not be accepted)
Guidelines:
-The subject line of your email containing the vid links should be “YOUR FULL NAME AND GRAD LEVEL”
-Start setting up a youtube account if you don’t already have one.
-You can make the videos “unlisted” for extra privacy if you desire.
-The vids should be UNEDITED, straight play throughs.  No splicing or editing.
-You should dress up as if it were a live audition.
-There should be no one else in the video or background other than MAYBE an accompanist should you be lucky enough to have one living in your household.
-You can do your scale(s) as one video and your piece as a separate video.  But send them both in the SAME email.
-If the attached guidelines give a metro marking for the scales, you must play along with an audible metro in the video.
-If there’s a piano accompaniment track listed in the attached Grad Docs, you must play along with that track.  It must be played as loud as a real piano.
-If the docs say you are to play with a live accompanist, see below:

Sight Reading auditions will take place via a LIVE VIDEO AUDITION with Jacob Colby.  Here are the steps Jacob will be taking:
SA Sightreading Exam 2020 Procedures
  1. Notify all parents and students that the sightreading exam will be administered during regularly scheduled class times on 5/2 (B week) and 5/9 (A week). Note that 5/9 is not on the schedule, parents will be made aware that they need to be available that day.
  2. Assign each student a specific 5 minute time slot. All time slots will be assigned during students’ regularly scheduled Musicianship class times.
  3. Require that each student be present in the Zoom waiting room at the start of each class.
  4. Admit each student individually for their sightreading exam.
  5. Have each sightreading test prepared on my device in advance.
  6. Share screen or document with each student as they are admitted. Each student will
have approximately 3 minutes to prepare and 2 minutes to play the exam.
  7. Record results for each student using the criteria outlined on the SA Graduation adjudication sheet. This information will be compiled and sent to Shelley at the
    conclusion of each testing day.
  8. Be sure to record each class so that I can review if needed.
  9. Be sure to take note of any students who were absent.
I will be in touch about additional details including how we will handle the sight reading.  Please let me know if you have questions.
Thanks!
Shelley
